Our client, in the retail industry, requires the service of a Medical Equipment Buyer who will be responsible for ensuring sufficient categories of surgical items at all times.

Key performance areas:

? Identifying and sourcing of new products.
? Ordering and replenishment of stock, ensuring sufficient stock is on hand at all times
? Stock keeping analysis, review all items and make decisions on fast moving and slow moving items.
? Taking action where necessary to ensure optimal stock levels.
? Managing cost of capital invested in stock, ensuring adequate return on investment is achieved.
? Managing stock close to expiry date.
? Building long lasting relationships with suppliers.
? Managing stock quality, ensuring all ordered items are as per agreed specifications.
? Setting of selling price based on market standards.
? Ensuring year on year growth in both sales and profits, meeting set budget targets.
? Working closely with the Sales and Marketing department on relevant activities such as monthly specials.
? Develop and implement strategies for sales, profit and market share growth.
? Continuous improvement on current processes, aligning to technological and industry changes.
? Monthly reporting on all functional areas.
? Action points identified and changes implemented where necessary.
? Ensuring all administration and record keeping are adequate and aligned to standard operating procedures.

The successful candidate must have:

? Matric with a 3 Year Business Degree or relevant qualification
? 3 – 5 Years retail buying experience, preferably with surgical products
? Must have a high knowledge of surgical knowledge
? Pharmaceutical knowledge
? Knowledge of negotiation, procurement and stock management
? Relationship management
? Excellent computer literacy and advanced system skills
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills
? Negotiation skills
? Excellent numerical skills
? Must be deadline driven and detail orientated
