Mining Engineer – AA/EE

An opportunity to work for a global leader in the Mining sector. You will be tasked with providing direct oversight of mine planning practices and development of strategic plans for underground assets in order to drive optimisation of operations to achieve business objectives/targets.

The ideal candidate will meet the following Minimum requirements:
• Either BSc Eng (Mining). BEng (Mining), BTech (Mining) or similar
• Mine Manager's Certificate of competency and/or PR Eng registration with ECSA is essential.
• Project Management Qualification advantageous
• 7+ years Mining Experience working on South African mining projects
• Literacy in software packages such as: Casmine, mine 2 4 d, Xpac, Surpac, Datamine, Whittle
• Sound practical understanding of the entire mining value chain including mining, geotechnical, metallurgy and projects
• Demonstrate knowledge in production management, tracking, mining dispatch systems, surveying, geology, contract management, drilling & blasting techniques
• Superb communication and stakeholder management skills

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Produce detailed strategic mine plans.
• Defining planning parameters.
• Reconciliation of key data points.
• Ascertaining extraction risks, planning and implementing extraction systems.
• Maximise planning and production through efficient system’s use.
• Input into budgets and cost control.
• Ensure that health, safety and environmental standards are adhered to.
• Training and mentoring subordinates.
