Our Client in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal is looking for a Mould Changer to join their team.

KEY DUTIES

Adhere to the standard operating procedure when removing and installing molds into the machines.
Ensure maintenance is performed on equipment assigned to.
Report any damaged or unsafe equipment to the Safety Manager, to be replaced immediately.
Making up of water pipes.
Assisting in the Tool Room when no mold changes are planned
Input information into Barco system
Housekeeping in and around the machine
Ensure that floors are cleaned and dried after mold change is completed
Draw bars are to be set after each mold change and as required with robot adjustments.
Installing mold in machine
Read and understand Priority Plan for Molds
Removing and installing mold in two halves
Removing molds from molding machine:
Input information into Barco for start of mold change (E11);
Use lock-out and tag-out when working between platens or mold halves;
Mount eye bolt in correct position; Check lifting chain for correct tension;
Remove water pipes and drain all water channels on mold;
Check cavities and cores are clean and dry; Spray with moisture guard spray.
Close mold and install transport safety straps;
Remove nuts from ejector bars; Loosen clamps on moving half of mold;
Open moving platen clear of mold; Remove ejector bars from mold;
Loosen clamps from fixed half of mold; Remove mold with overhead crane;
Place mold on wooden blocks, ready to be transported to tool room;
Mold changer to transport mold to tool room with forklift.
REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12
National diploma in Mechanical Engineering would be advantageous
Forklift license
2-3 years’ experience as Mould changer within Plastic Manufacturing
