One of our clients, a leading South African Manufacturer in plastic products, currently has a vacancy available for an Operations Manager. They are based in Paarl

They are looking for a self-motivated and driven individual to join their team.

Purpose of role:
Managing the production function for both their Paarl and Roodekop sites.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Degree in BSC Engineering/Production will be to your advantage
• At least 8 years extensive Production Management experience within the manufacturing industry with exposure to Financial Management will be required
• Knowledge and experience in the Extrusion and Thermoforming Industry will be beneficial
• Must have experience in supervising a team
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in a unionized environment will be beneficial

Job Requirements:

• Ensure compliance of team members to all safety, quality, hygiene and operational requirements.
• Responsible for rolling out a safety plan
• Develop emergency evacuation plan
• Management of SHE and Quality teams
• Ensure scrap percentages are attained
• Responsible for daily control and monthly reports
• Production and capacity planning on a weekly, monthly and annual basis
• Ensure availability of services to the plant (compressed air, chilled water, substations, etc)
• Ensure preventative & scheduled maintenance schedules are adhered to
• Manage any engineering related projects (new or upgrading of machinery)
• Responsible for reducing of energy usage
• Maintain customer relations through delivering superior quality products and services
• Ensure all lab equipment is maintained and calibrated
• Drive implementation & accreditation for BRC environmental accreditation & food safety
• Provide accurate information for all CAPEX projects
• Ensure CAPEX budget is adhered to
• Manage & reduce OPEX
• Prepare annual budget for OPEX & CAPEX
• Oversee & manage all new products & technical projects from initiation to customer acceptance stage
• Ensure all product specifications are updated, maintained & recorded
• Responsible for profitability by product
• Responsible for detailed, communicated, trained & agreed job descriptions for everyone
• Control labour costs including contractors & overtime
• Management of Production, Maintenance and Engineering teams
• Manage employee performance on a quarterly basis
• Responsible for developing a training matrix & ensure implementation per department
• Over and above aforementioned responsibilities, you will serve your Customer (both internal and external) in such a way that out Company objectives are met regarding quality of product and service.
