Our client is a remote first, international technology services group that combines state-of-the-art Web-based applications with on-demand payment processing.? As the Payroll specialist you would be required to process global payrolls as well as assist with Bookkeeping functions outside of payroll periods. It is a broad, hands-on role and you will be expected to proactively solve problems, recommend, and implement solutions, and exercise good judgment while performing your duties.

Minimum Requirements:
Senior certificate with mathematics and accounting is a pre-requisite. Certificate / diploma in accounting is advantageous
South African payroll experience is a pre-requisite. Canadian, Swiss, United Kingdom or United States payroll experience is advantageous
Strong administration skills
Superb attention to detail
Driven, proactive, high-energy, highly visible, and customer service-focused
Strong Excel skills is advantageous
Great written and verbal communication, organization and time management skills
Excellent team player who is very comfortable working with employees in other countries as part of a globally distributed team (involving regular daily video calls and messages)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Payroll administration
Payroll administration for various companies inside and outside of South Africa using local platforms available
Co-ordinate employee status changes between Employee Services and Finance for new engagements, transfers, promotions, terminations, etc.
Capture semi-monthly and monthly payroll for review and ensure governance
Ensure that all salaries, contractors and deductions are paid accurately and in a timely fashion to all employees, government institutions and 3rd parties
Ensure that monthly reconciliations, payments, and reporting is conducted effectively and timeously
Complete and submit payroll returns where necessary
Assist in managing payroll related schemes (for example trainee schemes, health benefits, cycle to work etc.)
Respond to internal and external payroll queries and liaise with the CFO, Head of Employee Services and Head of Finance in a customer centric manner
To ensure accurate and timeous employee record keeping & filing
New tax registrations where necessary
Ad-hoc payroll related duties

Bookkeeping
Create customers, issue and email invoices to customers as part of the accounts receivable function
Record vendor bills as part of accounts payable function
Create payment schedules and upload payments
Perform bank reconciliations
Master data maintenance, as required
