PHP Developer – Senior Back-End

Location: Woodstock, Cape Town
Salary: R45k – R65k per month

About the Role:
We develop and maintain a SaaS product built primarily on the traditional LAMP stack and hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). We are looking for an experienced backend PHP developer to join us. We are looking for someone to take technical ownership of the product and to accelerate our development efforts. You will be working closely with our current technical lead. This a back-end heavy position with emphasis on back-end development and server management & maintenance.

Requirements:
Programming languages: PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS, SQL
Programming libraries and frameworks: Symfony, Zend Framework, Bootstrap, jQuery,
Software: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
Tools: Svn, Git, Composer
Search: SOLR, Elasticsearch
Server and Infrastructure Management: Ubuntu, AWS, Windows Server
Building and maintaining secure web systems
Building and maintaining scalable web systems, both from concurrent users but also heavy data processing
Building and maintaining web systems which have considered I18N

Duties:
Develop and maintain the software by studying operations; designing, developing, and implementing software solutions
Develop features by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
Protects operations by keeping information confidential.
