Sovereign is a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets and has operations in the Eastern Cape and Gauteng Provinces. The Commercial Division is looking for individuals to assume the responsibilities of QA Managers in the Uitenhage Plants. The successful incumbent will report directly to the Senior QA Manager. The QA Manager will be responsible for implementing a globally accredited quality and food safety management system. The job holder must have at least a NQF Level 6 qualification in Food Technology/Food Hygiene and or Micro-biology with a minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in quality assurance, micro laboratory functions and test methods and managing food safety systems in an accredited plant. Experience in laboratory accreditation process shall be an added advantage.

Results Required:

• Define the input requirements and specification for all materials used in Production to ensure that non - conforming items are identified and returned to source.
• Implement a system to follow up on all consumer related and queries/complaints within an acceptable time frame in keeping with internal policy
• Maintain a legal compliance framework that ensures the facilities and products conform to all relevant legislated standards for food production
• Apply a robust process that ensures that Quality and Process defects are identified, escalated, and actioned according to system requirements
• Lead and develop direct reports
