JOB PURPOSE:

To ensure timeous availability of the accurate quality and quantity of project materials to various project sections in line with construction plan, through:
• Tracking and monitoring passage/movement of project materials
• Checking alignment of materials delivered to specifications
• Safe and effective storage of materials
• Co-ordinating the flow of materials from the stores to various sections of the project

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
• Forecast supply and demand, to prevent over-stocking and running out of stock.
• Create a storage system for inventory that ensures smooth flow of material into the store, and ease of identification and retrieval.
• Track all shipment of materials from suppliers, address delays and arrange for safe off-loading.
• Run daily shipping and receiving reports.
• Receive and maintain records of all delivered project material.
• Ensure that all incoming materials match purchase order documentation.
• Ensure that delivered materials are inspected and tested as per the Inspection Procedures.
• Weigh and measure products that enter the storage environment.
• Initiate disposition of Non-Conforming Material and arrange for the return or exchange of any materials that fail to meet specifications.
• Maintain a detailed inventory list of incoming, outgoing and current supplies.
• Manage issuing out of project materials from the stores as per the Material Management Procedure.
• Manage stock levels and make key decisions about stock replenishment and control.
• Conduct inventory control using various industry software programs.
• Create and maintain inventory, product cost and logistics data records that are easily accessible.
• Conduct periodic stock audits.
• Generate periodic reports for material movement, stock levels, rejected and returned materials, delayed materials etc

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
• Diploma in Logistics or Inventory Management
Experience
• 4 years’ experience working as stock controller or inventory controller role
• Experience working in a construction industry
Knowledge
• Good knowledge of civil, mechanical and electrical materials
• Good understanding of supply chain procedures
• Sound understanding of material inventory/management systems
• Understanding of usage of folk lifts, pallet jacks and mobile cranes and lifting tackles

• Familiarity with various stores/inventory documentation e.g. purchase orders, delivery notes, stores requisition, goods receiving vouchers ets
