RETAIL / PHARMACEUTICAL SECTOR

Leading Pharmaceutical Retailer seeks a suitably qualified / experienced Senior Surgical Buyer to join their dynamic Team.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 – 5 years’ surgical buying experience (preferably within a retail environment) and have exceptional communication skills and proven experience in dealing with Suppliers, Customers, Managers and Internal buying teams.

(S)he will be responsible for the ensuring sufficient and correct stock profile and levels for various categories of surgical items across the Business.

He / She will also ensure compliance to regulatory and legislative requirements to reduce risk, and achievement of divisional financial ratios.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors Degree (Business / Procurement or relevant)
Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience as a Buyer (surgical products) essential
High level of surgical knowledge
Retail buying experience is preferred, or strong operational knowledge of retail sector
Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills
Solid experience in procurement and stock management
Strong numeracy skills
Budgeting skills
High attention to detail
Strong business acumen
Knowledge of company procedures and policies / knowledge of internal systems
Advanced systems and computer literacy (Advanced proficiency - MS Office Suite)
Outstanding Verbal and Written Communication skills (verbal and written)
Fluent in Afrikaans and English
Able to work under pressure and meet with tight deadlines
Budgeting and Cost Management experience

Identifying and sourcing of new products (surgical)
Ordering and replenishment of stock, ensuring sufficient stock is on hand at all times
Manage negotiations with suppliers for quality and cost-effective options
Update and maintain accurate supplier price files
Design and implement formulary and preferred product listing
Stock keeping analysis, review all items and make decisions on fast moving and slow moving items Take action where necessary to ensure optimal stock holding
Managing cost of capital invested in stock, ensuring adequate return on investment is achieved
Managing stock close to expiry date
Building long lasting relationships with suppliers to ensure revenue growth
Managing stock quality, ensuring all ordered items are as per agreed specifications
Setting of selling price based on market standards.
Ensuring year on year growth in both sales and profits, meeting set budget targets
Working closely with the Sales and Marketing department on relevant marketing activities such as monthly specials.
Develop and implement strategies for sales, profit and market share growth
Continuous improvement on current processes, aligning to technological and industry changes.
Monthly reporting compiled on all functional areas. Action points identified and changes implemented where necessary.
Ensure all administration and record keeping is adequate and alighted to standard operating procedures.
