NATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES IMPLEMENTATION PLATFORM (NTIP)

Position Overview (Position in Mandela Bay Learning Factory)
Reporting to the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Project Manager, the Technical Coordinator is responsible to build industry relationships and set up networking structures for the identification and selection of companies to participate in the workplace training phase (OJT) and to identify employment opportunities for students. The Technical Coordinator is also required to provide technical support to the Training Facility.

Responsibilities as Technical Coordinator
• Recruit suitable companies for the placement of students in respect of OJT and employment opportunities.
• Provide training to internal and external stakeholders on the implementation of OJT to ensure standardised processes.
• Manage and update company resources data continuously to ensure successful placement of students.
• Build and manage a network of contacts with relevant stakeholders to create mutually beneficial relationships.
• Provide general support to internal and external stakeholders as required to ensure effective implementation of OJT and Employment strategy.
• Keep up to date with trends and technology in the manufacturing sector to remain relevant in the field.
• Responsible for the integrity of statistical data regarding OJT and Employment and generating reliable monthly statistical reports to provide communication to relevant stakeholders.
• Assist with the execution of the employment strategy of the NTIP students.
• Support the successful completion of OJT process by assisting the completion of the MAP documents and the collection of workplace experience letters.
• Provision of technical and general support to the Training Facility, which includes, but are not limited to the moderation of Mini-task Work Pieces, invigilating Credential Days and doing the preventative maintenance checks.

Education and Experience – Technical Coordinator
• A relevant manufacturing industry qualification (preferably a qualified Toolmaker)
• Minimum of 5 year’s work experience in the manufacturing industry
• Marketing/Sales experience (desirable)
• Proven communication and presentation skills (incl. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license and own transport.
Personal requirements and competencies – Technical Coordinator
• In depth technical knowledge on all disciplines of Toolmaking
• Knowledge on the use of conventional machines (milling machines, lathes, grinding machines, drill presses)
• Knowledge on the use of EDM machines
• Knowledge on the use of CNC machines
• Knowledge on the processes involved in making moulds and progressive dies.
• Knowledge on the various careers that are available in the Manufacturing Sector.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders from industry, training facilities and learners.
• Ability to function in a team / Ability to work with diversity.
• Initiative and ability to work independently
• Excellent computer skills in Word and Excel
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Be willing to travel often
