Position: Unemployed Electrician required (EE candidate)
Location: Durban
Department: Facilities Department
Reporting to Facilities Manager
Remuneration: CTC of up to R8 000 pm (dependent on experience, qualifications) plus 5% provident fund contribution)
Role and Responsibilities: To assist with the electrical aspects of the Company’s buildings and ensure that the aforementioned is maintained and always in working order.
Minimum experience and educational requirements:
EDUCATION:
o Matric
o Diploma in Electrical Engineering
o Trade Certificate
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
o Electrician with 2 to 3 years in the trade
The job will require the incumbent to work though the December period. Alternative week-end/standby duty required.

Key Performance Areas:
o Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliance, apparatus and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools;
o Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem;
o Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components;
o Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliances with codes;
o Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous;
o Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system;
o Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters and test lamps;
o Repair or replace wiring, equipment and fixtures using hand tools and power tools;
o Work from ladders, scaffolds and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures;
o Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls or other concealed areas and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes;
o Construct and fabricate parts using hand tools and specifications;
o Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets;
o Perform physically demanding tasks such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects;
o Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services;
o Keep the device in a good condition
o Update the app regularly
o Return the device on a daily to the artisans docking station
o Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights and generators and placing flares; and
o All other ad hoc tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.
