JOB OVERVIEW
The WAREHOUSE MANAGER is responsible for the end-to-end warehouse operations from receiving to dispatch. This includes:
Maintaining the physical condition of the warehouse
Driving innovation and continuous improvement within the warehouse
Ensuring the warehouse can deliver on strategic operations plan
Resolving and/or escalating risks deriving from or impacting the warehouse
Ensuring the warehouse complies with necessary company and regulatory standards
Managing, mentoring and coaching direct reports
Managing and reporting on the performance of direct reports.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and implementing new design layouts
Inspecting and repairing equipment
Ensuring warehouse safety and security
Handling of biometrics and/or timesheets and ensuring the proper payment of staff
Data capturing and reporting
Creating, compiling and circulating warehouse documents
Recruitment within the warehouse
Ordering and receiving
Planning and conducting meetings
Spot checks on operational processes
Keypoint of communication for internal stakeholders
Budgeting and managing warehouse costs
Driving efficiencies
Housekeeping
Reviewing upcoming menus and giving feedback on menu development
Liaising with contractors.
REQUIREMENTS
Related tertiary qualification
Minimum of 5 years of warehouse management experience including 2 years management/supervisory experience
Experience in the food production/food handling industry (preferred FMCG, food retail, perishables/cold-chain)
Knowledge of occupational health and safety processes and legislation and food safety experience
Good administration skills
Strong numerical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
Experience/understanding of an ERP or CRM system would be advantageous
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to take initiative with tasks and projects
Computer literacy with expert Word and Excel skills (troubleshooting)
Leadership and people management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Budgeting and a good understanding of the finance function
Organisational and time management skills
Willing to work outside of working hours, when required. Working week is Wednesdays to Sundays with Mondays and Tuesdays off (not negotiable).
