The successful candidate will report to the Camp Lodge Manager. Listed below are the requirements for this position: Key responsibilities include:Providing an interpretive safari experience on game drive and / or walks dailyHosting of guests for the duration of their stay at the lodgeResponsible for the safety and well-being of guests while on safariCoordination extra quests activities on the reserve, do guest allocations and maintain the allocation boardTake full responsibility for the management of the Safari Department, this includes compiling monthly reports, participate in the budget process and managing budget lines.Inspire, stimulate and lead the ranging team and maintain disciplineAssume overall responsibility for all equipment and vehicles – instil a culture of careUphold Lodge and Reserve code of conductManage leave cycles and training filesHold and facilitate rangers meetingsOversee Ranger BlogsQualificationsMinimum 4 years guiding experience in a Big 5 reserve with in a similar lodge environment. Previous head ranger or assistant head ranger experience. FGASA level 1/2 /3 qualification. Full Trails Guide Qualification - advantage. SASSETA certificate. Valid PDP. Valid Code 08 Drivers’ License. DEAT registered. THEATA registered. First Aid level 1/2/3. Rifle competency. Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH).SkillsA Head Field Guide / Ranger provides a core service to the lodge. This position is fully responsible for conduction a guided safaris experience that is unique, personalised, professional and enjoyable, while at the same time leading and motivation a safari team. Candidates for this position should be a natural leader, passionate about people, nature, wildlife, conservation, environment and sharing their knowledge. They must be enthusiastic, energetic and physically fit.
