Leading investment concern seeks to appoint an Accountant with a relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting role to perform financial functions largely focused on analyses, reports and projects.

Skills Required:

• Tertiary Accounting Qualification e.g. B Degree or equivalent
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience within a similar role.
• Sound knowledge of King 111 Report, Company’s Act, Income Tax Act.
• Sound Finance Systems knowledge.
• Advanced Excel skills are essential.
• Sound Microsoft Office skills in Word and Outlook.
• Good Reporting Skills.
• Deadline orientated.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

Responsibilities:
• Performs accounting functions such as financial statement preparation including balance sheet, profit and loss statement, monthly sales reports etc., reconciliations (E.g. Insurance), variance analysis, journals entries and reports.
• Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
• Computes and/or checks taxes owed and ensures compliance with SARS regulations and deadlines. Also updates tax schedules.
• Sales analysis and reporting.
• Prepare the flash report for distribution to Executives.
• Prepare and distribute the daily Group’s Results and Dashboard Report.
• Variance analyses and provides explanations.
• Prepares the turnover rental calculations and communication thereof.
• Ensures that accruals and provisions are raised correctly each month.
• Prepares SA Stats for review by the Financial Manager.
• Provides advice and assistance and early warning of such problems as cost over-runs, excessive charges, and potential penalties.

IT and Systems
• Participates in projects related to Finance IT and systems development.
• Maintains financial security by following internal controls.

Audits
• Assists with the preparation of the year end audit file.
• Assists and prepares for internal audits.
• Implements recommendations from annual audit or as provided by Internal Audit.

Risk Management
• Identifies weakness within financial controls and recommends changes or implements changes after approval has been given as necessary.
• Ensures the safeguard of funds and Company assets by ensuring that internal controls are in place and being adhered to.
