ACTUARIAL SPECIALIST – Jhb, Gauteng

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
• An Actuarial Specialist with Strong focus on delivering insights on Emerging Consumer Markets products.
• Experience in actuarial valuation (and related) processes and a willingness to liaise with and work with other business units, including the Business Development team, Product Development team, the Prophet modelling team and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
• Perform all the tasks typically required from an actuarial insights team, including calculating the value of new business, the embedded value, the liabilities, analyzing the sources of profit, experience investigations etc.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the actuarial systems and models in order to perform the variety of actuarial investigations and tasks required by the team.
• Present insights to senior management and drive conversation across the business to improve profitability of product set
• Proactively identify areas and drive solutions where improvements can be made to current systems and/or processes
• Liaise with other teams, including Product Development, to keep up to date with new product launches and enhancements to existing products
• Assist in transition from current regulatory framework to a SAM regulatory environment
Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge
• Senior actuarial student or recently qualified actuary
• The successful incumbent must have strong technical experience in Actuarial Science techniques, calculations and principles
• Experience in financial analysis and interpretation, and knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulations and professional guidance of the Actuarial Society, would be beneficial
• Knowledge of the Prophet actuarial modeling software, or similar software, would be useful
• 3+ years of work experience in an Actuarial environment
