A well-known insurance firm is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their team. Will be reporting to the Finance Manager. •Records, classifies and summarises accounting transactions•Verifies and posts bank transactions to journals•Verifies and captures transactions into journals and other records for postings•Selects correct account; captures journals, verifies and balances debit and credit entries•Liaise with bank and different investments company •Analyses, investigates and corrects accounting entries needed•Performs reconciliation of complex transactions•Performs arithmetic calculations•Responds to queries. Checks accounting transactions to locate and resolve discrepancies•Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets to assemble, interrogate and/or format data and/or reports•Assist in preparation of financial and operating reports•Acts as lead to less senior assistant accountants•May assist in analysis and interpretation of accounting records for use by management and/or auditors•Involvement in other adhoc projects.•Journals postings•General ledger reconciliations•Reclassification of Phakama admin fees•Claims analysis
•Admin fees•Commission accruals.Computer Literacy - Ability to work with Microsoft Excel is essential.
