Associate Director, Optimisation – Infrastructure and Major Projects

Purpose of the Job:
Our Client, a large Corporate Finance Company based in Johannesburg, requires an individual who can contribute to the expansion and growth of their Infrastructure practice in Africa, through project delivery and business development at key clients and markets. The Infrastructure and Major Projects Team has been structured around four areas across the asset life cycle; namely Strategy & Development, Procurement & Financing, Delivery & Construction and Operations & Performance.

The successful candidate will be required to provide strategic, advisory and review services to developers and operators of large Energy and Natural Resources Projects in the Operations & Performance area.

Qualifications and experience
The successful candidate MUST have a;
Four year degree qualification and will have professional registration plus a post graduate qualification.

Typically the undergraduate degree MUST be in Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying.

In addition the successful candidate must have at least 10 years’ of optimisation experience.


Key job duties or responsibilities:
The successful candidate will need to:
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of Energy and Natural Resources optimisation experts.
• Optimisation would include the full range of business improvement services relating to direct operating costs such as asset and labour productivity, energy management, integrated production planning, supply chain and inventory management etc. What this does not entail is optimisation of Finance, IT and HR.
• Provide strategic, advisory and review services covering project management and business improvement
• Be able to deal with C level staff in the client organisation as well with project team members
• Provide the client with guidance and support throughout the asset life cycle from development stage to closure
• Be familiar with the governance, financial and procurement interfaces between operations and corporate environments

The candidate will be based in Johannesburg, however the type of projects worked on are located throughout Southern and Sub Saharan Africa and the successful candidate must be prepared to travel and work in these areas.
