Learn to Earn (LtE) is a Christian skills development organization which seeks to develop people, especially unemployed people, socially, economically, emotionally and spiritually.
We require the services of a Barista Trainer to facilitate our barista training program at our Johannesburg Academy. We are looking to find an energetic, caring and patient individual who loves training others and giving amazing customer service, as much as he/she loves coffee! Reporting to the Head Trainer in Cape Town, will be a team member who will implement the training program at Ground Up, a Learn to Earn initiative, while contributing to continuous improvement and increase the value this program provides to the unemployed.

Requirements
1. Hold to LtE’s statement of faith and be an active member of an evangelical church
2. Experience as Barista Trainer and should have a working knowledge and be able to manage the following responsibilities:
• Customized trainings as needed (espresso basics, signature drinks, customer service, latte art, etc)
• Teach and participate at regular specialty coffee conventions
• Participate in and/or compete at Barista competitions
3. Cup of Knowledge certification or similar
4. Participate with and help conduct cupping events and home barista courses
5. Ability to diagnose and respond to all customer enquiries with coffee as they come in.
6. Have daily lessons where students are trained and updated on current trends and information.
7. Be subject matter expert on current trends and SCAA / SCAE standard sor City & Guilds.
8. Retail and Barista Culture Expert
General
• Maintain a cooperative work / training environment.
• Attend industry events as necessary and needed.
• Implement new training systems based off vision and goals set by the organisation.
• Recommend new methods and procedures to enhance current and future operating strategies.
• Attend and participate in local trade shows and others as needed.
• Participate in product demonstrations as needed.

Desired Skills and Experience
• At least two (2) years’ experience in an office and Barista training environment is a must
• Ability to efficiently plan, in detail multiple assignments, tasks and projects while meeting specific timelines
• Communicate effectively and professionally at all levels both inside and outside the organisation
• Possess the ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment and consistently meeting tight timelines
• Personable, outgoing, energetic, organized, reliable and full of integrity and the ability to mix with any crowd
• Entrepreneurial mind set
• Must have reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with a strong orientation to developing simple documents and spreadsheets to organize work and communicate effectively with other people/departments.
• 2 years minimum artisan barista experience
• Latte art skills required
• Food prep experience required
• Barista training and coffee house management experience a plus
• Enthusiasm for coffee (self proclaimed coffee nerd a plus)
• Patient & caring personality
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail and cleanliness
• Ability to manage and prioritize tasks
• Self starter and team oriented
• Enjoys working in the non-profit sector
