Bequest Programme Manager / Fundraiser

Location: Rondebosch, Cape Town
Salary: R20k – R25k per month

About the Role:
Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, this role is responsible for the enhancement and delivery of the organisation’s bequest strategy and growth plans. The objective of this role is to ensure that Bequest fundraising is promoted effectively to the Trust’s target market; leads are cultivated, and supporters are retained over time.

5 years’ experience in a bequest marketing/fundraising role
Demonstrate strategic skills, including a proven ability to develop innovative marketing approaches and outstanding communication skills
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with individual supporters, their families and potential supporters
Experience in liaising with professional third parties such as legal and financial firms
The role will require a relationship-focused fundraiser comfortable working within a KPI framework, operating with a strategic approach to ensure the development of the Bequest portfolio.

Working in close collaboration with the other members of the fundraising and communications team
Responsible for the implementation of the bequest strategy from bequest communications to personalised stewardship of current and potential bequestors through to estate administration.
Strategy and Planning
Develop, manage and implement the Bequest strategy and budget, in consultation with the Head of Fundraising, that contributes to current and long-term fundraising targets.
Work with internal stakeholders across the organisation to collaborate across the portfolio to maximise lead generation activities, conversion strategies and donor retention.
Ensure all Bequest activities are conducted in line with legislation compliance.
Grow the programme and number of confirmed bequests
Manage and update pipeline bequest income
Relationship Management
Build and manage strong relationships with stakeholders (high level networking)
Campaign Development – Acquisition and Retention
Scope and assess innovative approaches to enhance bequest pipeline.
Contribute to an innovative marketing and communications plan
Maintain and enhance the Trust’s existing confirmed bequest or group ‘Circle of Life’ group through dedicated events and communications
Ensure all donors are well supported and acknowledged throughout their relationship with the Trust.
Develop and manage all bequest prospect identification, communication and confirmation Analyse activities once a year to determine success of campaigns
Keep abreast of trends on bequest fundraising and retention techniques
Budget and Reporting
Ensure all data is up-to-date to allow efficient reporting
Deliver reports to document strategy implementation and performance.
Regularly track and report on legacy programme results identifying key insights.
