Key Results Areas

• Ongoing Monthly Bookkeeping using Pastel
• Process cashbook & journal entries using Pastel
• Process debtors & creditors and prepare age analysis using Pastel
• Prepare all bank reconciliations
• Capture all transactions involving the purchase, sale and depreciation of fixed assets including the up to date maintenance of a fixed asset register
• Prepare all statutory returns (‘VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, COID and other regulatory) and ensure that details of payment required are advised to the business manager by the required deadlines
• Weekly capturing of employee timesheets
• Prepare the payroll for the month in which salaries are to be paid to the employees of the company and send payslips to such employees using VIP Payroll
• Prepare IRP5 certificates for all employees using VIP Payroll
• Complete and reconcile the EMP501 and submit to SARS before the deadline specified

Other additional tasks required:
• Ensure that the company complies with all tax requirements
• Ensure all schedules and other information requested by the company’s Business Manager for the audit at the end of the financial year are properly prepared by the required deadlines.
• Liaise with the Business Manager for devising and installation of new changes to accounting system where appropriate.
• Prepare income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements together with all supporting reconciliation
• Liaise with the Business Manager to ensure that the recordkeeping is done correctly and ready to be processed
• Ensure monthly financial statements are produced comparing actual performance to budget and prior year results where applicable.

Ongoing monthly management reports:
• Record all budgets in the accounting software;
• Prepare projected cash flow and budget reports for the Business Manager;
• Prepare additional reports that may be requested by the Business Manager.

Responsibilities
• Where applicable-perform clerical and administrative tasks
• Ensure a professional bookkeeping service is established and maintained for the provision of accurate, timeous and reliable financial information to the company and the businesses therein together with statutory and taxation compliance assistance.
• Ensure all reporting is prepared and submitted in the required format and by required due dates
• Preparation and submission of accurate, reliable and timeous financial information including monthly reporting, annual audit, annual budget and any other financial reporting required
• Ensure compliance with statutory human resource requirements and all company policies in respect thereof.
• Assist with implementing and management of collaboration opportunities, particularly in the areas of procurement.

Qualifications
• Relevant Graduate ‘tertiary level’ qualification
• Act as Accounting Officer
Experience/Knowledge

• In a similar position with 3 years experience
• Must be commercially astute with strong/proven bookkeeping and accounting skills
• Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skill
• Demonstrated ability to multi –task and work in fast paced changing environment
• Demonstrated ability to share skills and knowledge
• Good presentation skills
• A systems driven individual with solid administrative and accounting skills
• Previous experience working in a small business environment
• Practical knowledge of the application of information technology in a business environment, well developed knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software and familiarity with business administration and accounting software
• Experience and background knowledge of Pastel
• Experience and background knowledge of VIP Payroll
• Knowledge of applicable legislative compliance matters essential
