A dynamic Primary School in the South Peninsula of Cape Town requires the services of a Bursar/Business manager to assume responsibility for the full Financial Management of the School.

Duties: The bursar reports to the Principal and is responsible to:
• Maintain accounting records of the school
• Implementation of finance policies within the school
• Scrutinising and passing for payment all invoices received by the school ensuring charges are in line with finance policy
• Maintaining fixed asset register and depreciation calculations
• Cost control and reporting to management where there is risk of overspend
• Keeping an analysis of costs and other statistical analysis
• Maintaining weekly cash forecast
• Performance of monthly bank reconciliations
• Prepare reports on monthly income v expenditure
• School Budget (i.e. working with Treasurer and SGB)
• Update policies and process claims
• Salaries (i.e. all SGB salaries and tax)

The School offers a friendly and dynamic campus, warm offices and friendly staffroom; leave will be granted in school holidays, the position is established and paid for by the Governing Body of the School.

Starting Date: The successful candidate’s appointment will be from 1 March 2019 or as otherwise agreed

Requirements: Applicants must meet all the following requirements:
• At least 5 years bookkeeping experience, ideally with school finance experience
• Relevant financial qualification (Degree)
• Relevant Accounting / Book Keeping Qualification
• Computer literacy (MS Excel proficient) and Google Apps
• Job and organisational knowledge of a school environment
• Full knowledge of Pastel Accounting Package
• Strong leadership and financial skills
• No criminal record, clean Credit Record
• Attention to detail
• Ability to professionally deal with parents suppliers, staff and members of the public about financial matters without giving offense.
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Leadership capability
• Applicants who have previously worked in a WCED school or similar institution will be given preference SA Citizens / Permanent Residents of SA
