My client, a well-established and well known NGO who provides specialised care to members of the community, has an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual who has a passion for and can offer expertise in the business development of the organisation.

Reporting to the CEO and the Board of Directors, the candidate will be responsible for overseeing and supporting personnel working in the fund-raising, events, public relations, proposals and social media departments.  To identify new areas of fundraising possibilities as well as support, work and develop existing projects and ideas.  Initiate projects, develop new relationships, oversee all fundraising applications, reports and record-keeping within the organisation.  Introduce new ideas methods of funding necessary to develop and expand the organisation, ensuring long-term sustainability.

Duties include

  • Identify closely with the ideals and principles of the organisation and help to expand its public face.
  • Promote and Identify short, medium and long term needs, both Monetary and non-monetary.
  • Oversee and guide all fundraising and events efforts supporting the staff in the department and ensuring smooth day to day operations.
  • Communicate with, build and sustain a donor base both within the community and within corporate organisations.
  • Assist with and oversees fund-raising proposals for presentation to various organisations both local and international, seeking out new contacts and developing long-term relationships. Experience in this particular field of expertise is vital.
  • Introduce entrepreneurial fundraising activities that are sustainable and provide long-term funding.
  • Assist the department with the maintenance and development of a public image, incorporating various tools eg social, online and print media.
  • Introduce short, medium and long-term targets, monitoring progress and ensuring they are met.
  • Attend Strategic Planning Meetings to discuss and plan the way ahead, thereafter ensuring that the plans selected are grown, developed and eventually brought to conclusion to the benefit of the organisation.
  • Attend meetings, workshops and events, some of which are after hours.
  • Compile and present reports for the Finance, Management and Marketing committees, attending the necessary meetings and liaising with staff and management on a regular basis.
  • Communicate regularly with the C.E.O. to discuss and advise the way forward with regard to areas of interest to ensuring the sustainability of the organisation.
