Job description

To service the business intelligence department by providing support in SQL server setup, maintenance and structuring, as well as creating and maintaining relevant reports and reporting applications. This will include development and improvement of ETL processes with both internal and external 3rd party data sources, table structure management and design based on reporting requirements, as well as creating reporting tools and interfaces.

(Duties are expected to include, although not limited to)

Manage ETL processes and database structures.
Develop reporting interfaces through EXCEL and relevant windows applications.
Assist the BI department in its goal to deliver insightful information to relevant stakeholders, deliver useful tools to action insight and to provide relevant comment on trends and reports.
Ensure data integrity
Server maintenance through ETL’s and data structuring.
Support of the marketing management with accurate data and insights for strategic decisions and implementation.
Proactive report development to improve insights on trends and customer behaviour.
Ad hoc research reports.
New Report formulation: identification, development specification if relevant and execution and maintenance.


Requirements

Degree in Information Systems and/or Programming. (Can be Commerce or Computer Science based)
Mid-level experience with SQL (Postgres and MySQL predominantly) with sound understanding of database principles and relational table structures
Good understanding of relational database principals and concepts
Experience with ETL’s: from internal servers and third party sources. Bash file scripting
Database administration experience (set up and maintenance) preferential
Exposure/understanding of programming: preferably VBA, C# and .NET
Expert level in MS Excel
At least 2 or more years’ experience in similar role
