Bryanston

 

R1,2 – R1,6 per annum. depending on experience and qualifications.

 

 

My client is one of the world's leading engineering professional services consulting firms that are based in Bryanston. The Commercial Finance Director’s role is to partner with the business streams in ensuring that revenue and operating cost is reported in line with IFRS standards and the company’s policy. The post holder will provide strong commercial & financial advice on margin management, bid reviews and other operational issues as well as ensuring that the senior management team is appropriately communicated with on actual & forecast performance.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Matric Qualification
  • CIMA registered minimum requirement
  • CA qualification is preferable
  • Essential experience in construction sector/professional services
  • 10 - 15 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in managing a large department (15+ employees) essential

 

 

Responsibilities:

Commercial

  • Work closely with the FD, MD and Divisional Managing Directors/COO’s to develop a strategic financial plan for the African business and specific divisions.
  • Manage commercial finance staff to provide and communicate insight into performance.
  • Lead team meetings, cascade relevant information and encourage feedback from team and wider business.
  • Responsible for financial planning of the divisions and overall business budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyse financial data, extracts and define relevant information; interpret data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project financial performance. Reporting on an executive level.
  •  Develop financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis.
  • Ensure that the required support is provided to Project Directors and Project Managers to identify, assess and manage risk in order to secure the best commercial return from the projects.
  • Provide commercial support to enhance project profitability and margins.
  • Manage working capital to ensure efficient operation through Credit Manager and the Commercial finance Team.
  • Strategic input to Credit management team.
  • Ensure compliance to the companys accounting policies specifically revenue recognition.
  • Ensure Accuracy and Completeness of all Division specific P&L and selected Balance sheet accounts processed by Commercial Finance team.
  • Ensure thorough Go/No-Go process that the Africa business complies to EMEIA Proposal review and Approval policy.
  • Assist with bid preparation and costing through bottom up costing.
  • Assist with client contract negotiations and take ownership of Commercial aspects.
  • Commercial review of client bespoke agreements or changes made to standard industry agreements like PROCSA, JBCC, NEC with the support of EMEIA in house council or external lawyers.
  • Improving systems and reporting to monitor order-book and provide insight into forward workload.
  • Responsible for monthly BU review report to share information on financial performance, risks and opportunities, backlog, new opportunities, wins in month, working capital, cash, utilisation, resourcing.
  • Attend SLT meetings to provide input into the development of the business and strategic approach.
  • Give input on developing Way of Working and ensure compliance across the business.
  • Align commercial finance business processes across all divisions.
  • Ensure that both Short term insurance policies as well as PI insurance policies are adequate to cover the business risks.
  • Manage short term insurance claims with the support of the claims administrator.
  • Ensure project specific insurance policies are in place for turnkey projects. Insurances include Marine, PI and CAR (Contractors All Risk) insurance in countries outside SA jurisdiction.
  • Overall responsibility to obtain guarantees and bonds on Global banking facility when needed for specific projects.
  • Know the formal and informal goals, standards, policies and is sensitive to interrelationship of both people and functions within the department.
