KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (What do you have to be able to do to achieve the desired results of your job? Include management and leadership responsibilities for work team leaders.)
• Initiate, edit and proofread communication materials up to final draft stage for internal and external audiences
• Identify topics of interest and suitable for internal and external audiences
• Produce well-researched and relevant content targeting internal and external audiences
• Where necessary, conduct additional research to produce articles and various other communications materials
• Liaise with communication service providers and manage service delivery by media monitoring service providers
• Monitor media on a daily basis to identify media reports and other coverage of relevance to the FIC
• Provide a twice-daily update service to staff on FIC-related on media coverage
• Identify and utilise tools for monitoring relevant media coverage
• Supplement the department’s news clippings as and when required and as requested
• Assist in developing and implementing annual internal and external events plan, subject to approval and assessment
• Assist in disseminating approved communications material to external and internal audiences
• Supplement and assist in maintaining a photo library
• Source images and articles for use in newsletters and other communication channels
• Maintain up-to-date lists of media and other communications contacts
• Accept queries from media under direction and as requested by line manager or his/her delegate.
• Assist in engaging with media, developing and maintaining relations with media
• Monitor stock of internal and external publications, and assist with distribution
• Assist with communications audits and surveys
• Assist with the organisation of media briefings and the preparation of media packs
• Assist with various administrative and other tasks as determined by the Communications Manager
• Assist in the delivery of communications and marketing solutions and projects.
• Liaise with other members of the department regarding their involvement in various projects, programmes and initiatives across the FIC to source material for internal communications
• Assist and support the broad range of the Communications business unit’s projects as requested.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• A tertiary qualification in communications, public relations or journalism or media studies or similar
• Five (5) year’s work experience in communications or media
• Previous work experience in financial services or compliance would be an advantage
• Experience in change management communications would be an advantage.
• Ability to identify topics of interest to internal and external audiences
• Good communications skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to edit and proofread own and others’ work for print and electronic mediums
• Ability to identify print and electronic media for relevant coverage on the FIC
• Interest in gaining knowledge and understanding about the financial intelligence environment to keep abreast of developments
• Ability to conduct desktop research
• Ability to plan and to meet deadlines
• Knowledge of basic principles relating to photography
• Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Attention to detail and strong focus on accuracy
• Ability to use Microsoft Office package, including advanced knowledge of MS Word
• Adaptability
• Ability to work under pressure
