CONTRACTS MANAGER REQUIRED IN DURBAN

JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of the role is to implement and maintain effective management of all contracts by monitoring progress as per program, achievement of productivity, financial performance and control, and contractual non-conformance.

 

Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • B Tech or University Degree Civil Engineering/ Construction Management
  • 10 years’ experience in a Senior Site manager or Contract manager role
  • Management of projects in excess of R100m
  • Experience in Business & financial Acumen
  • Extensive commercial and/ or high rise building experience

Duties:

  • Optimize financial performance of sites Implement and leverage systems
  • Oversee and manage the quality of all site deliverables
  • Manage risk in compiling and implementing tender programmes
  • Quality assurance and quality control.
  • Stakeholder relationship management.
  • People leadership and team management.
  • Effective teamwork, self-management and alignment with group values (PETCIIP).
  • Review financial information from sites and provide information to Quantity Surveyor to compile comprehensive reports on financial status
  • Optimize financial position on all sites and drive direct reports to meet targets.
  • Implement procurement controls.
  • Ensure all site systems are functional with appropriate backup systems in place where appropriate.
  • Ensure non-conformance is minimized through identifying, monitoring and managing site waste.
  • Oversee all aspects of finishing and completion phase, including de-snagging and handover by the Site Agent.
  • Compile project plans including method statements and draft tender programme.
  • Review tender programme prior to finalisation Identify any contractual anomalies and action appropriately
  • Ensure site safety through compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Facilitate and maintain effective relationships with relevant stakeholders through appropriate relationship building, networking and reporting activities.
  • Identify and prioritise potential strategic clients in order to secure future potential business opportunities.
  • Coordinate site meetings where applicable and ensure communication channels are effective in facilitating co-operative working relationships amongst various disciplines and departments.
  • Motivate, delegate and empower appropriately, enabling direct reports to take responsibility and display creativity and initiative.
  • Contribute to group initiatives (e.g. supply chain initiatives) where possible
  • Make an effort to stay relevant and up-to-date with legislation, new developments, etc.
  • Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities and demonstrate effective self-management.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
