Main Purpose of the job Reporting to the Unit Manager, the incumbent will be responsible to prepare food assigned in accordance with sector strategy, contract specifications and statutory Regulations as well as ensure overall efficient and effective management of the unit to provide a great quality food service. To Prepare and present all foodstuffs to the standard required by medirest and our client. Education and experience required: Matric Min of 2 years’ experience in the same role Cookery Certificate Customer Service experience Knowledge, Skills and Competencies: Customer service and communications skillsKnowledge of basic mathematicsGood analytical skillsKey areas of responsibility:

To prepare meals, snacks and functions correctly and timeously

To ensure mis-en-place is always freshly prepared and on time

To ensure that all meals are being prepared to the correct recipe and to the correct quantity

To ensure that foodstuffs are stored and used correctly so that wastage is kept at a minimum

To ensure that food in the bain-marie’s look attractive, re-garnishing when necessary or needs replenishing

To ensure that all stock requirements for the following day are available and in good condition

To help with regular stock-takes and when required

To ensure that preparation of food is hygienic and that a “clean as you go” discipline is adhered to To prepare meals, snacks and functions correctly and timeously. Meal of the day Specials HSE To ensure mise-en-place is always freshly prepared and on time. To ensure that all dishes are being prepared to the correct recipe and to correct quantity. To ensure that food in the bain-marie’s look attractive, regarnishing when necessary or needs replenishing. To ensure all maintenance problems are reported to Management and followed up. To ensure the preparation of food is hygienic and that a “clean as you go” discipline is adhered to. To promote team leadership and lead by example. To promote good image to our clients. To maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and correct dress procedure as laid-down by Management and our clients. To help with regular stocktakes as and when required. To attend training courses as and when required. Included in these duties, you are required to perform any other reasonable task required by your manager.
