Reports to: CEO.
Reporting, total staff compliment: Two.
Job titles of direct reports: Public Relations and Market Research Analyst (position still to be filled)
Key internal relationships: Executive Team, Directors, General Managers, Mining Managers & General Managers - Marketing Assistants (with dotted reporting line structure to the Corporate Group Business Development Manager).


Primary purpose:
That the required business growths targets in terms of turnover and GP are set and achieved.
Develop a growth strategy for the business globally.
Provide strategies and marketing activities to drive sales, increase market share, customer retention and satisfaction and improve customer data.
Strategic strategies, plans and processes developed to ensure that business opportunities are identified and that a focus is applied and implemented in meeting these objectives with the support from the business and respective divisions.

Job description / core competencies:
Developing monthly sales strategies and financial planning at an executive level to meet business targets;
Report on research done in new mining projects related to various commodities like Coal, Iron Ore, Manganese, Zinc, Platinum, Gold, and Diamond;
Management of Customer Relations Management (CRM) system;
Manage pipeline leads, opportunities, and annual sales growth;
Pioneer brand awareness activities, managing public relations and media communications;
Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of best practice strategic initiatives across multiple functions to support the delivery of sales, commercial and regulatory obligations;
Executing duties in accordance with organisational policies, principles, procedures, values, and strategies;
Ensuring that the agreed targets concerning market share, cost, business development and turnover are being met through effective implementation and control of business activities;
Ensuring sales capability development programmes are fit for purpose and enabling sales execution in line with organisational standards;
Upholding adherence to sales execution standards and implementing processes / structures to secure sales best practice sharing;
Managing and controlling all centralised communication regarding the sales function, thereby securing correct prioritisation of initiatives and clarity of information;
Developing sales tools including but not limited to; professional sales calls, sales trade presenters, mobile sales communication technologies. rewards, recognition, and incentives;
Development of marketing strategies to achieve company objectives in all markets, Inclusive of all advertising, marketing, and promotional activities;
Ensure business process are applied to contribute to increased customer satisfaction, efficiencies and profitability;
Maintaining strong relationships with clients and suppliers, and continuously driving processes to better customer experience;
Staying up to date with market trends through vigorous market research and area analysis;
Act as the focal point for the collection and presentation of customer data, ensuring improvements in service and process are based on effective analysis, and the interpretation of relevant data to ensure excellent communication between all aspects of the business, both internal and external;
Build relationships at highest levels to ensure enduring business affiliations, identifying and developing affiliations where appropriate;
Developing the long term corporate planning architecture supportive of the strategy;
Playing a key role in negotiations, contract formulation and corporate activity;
Championing business and process improvements at all levels;
Understand Market dynamics and select key accounts, key focus areas and required resources;
Leverage the tools and systems in place to drive sales and communicate progress to all stakeholders;
Seeking out new opportunities within established regions;
Follow up on referrals and new leads;
Preparing proposals and presentations;
Provide inputs on product development plans;
Participate in promotional activities and trade shows, working with developers, advertisers and production managers to market products and services;
Review management and financial reporting and statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives, and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions;
Organize and participate in local, regional and International exhibitions and sales promotions to promote products with emphasis to a thorough and well-planned evaluation.;
Managing the company’s corporate governance and publicity;
Implement a customer retention management program and ensure that optimal customer service is obtained;
Conduct market research and advise where new growth opportunities may lay. Evaluate the new opportunities based on the risk matrix;
Stakeholder Engagement:
Support core business and enhance corporate profile by establishing and maintaining relevant and appropriate relationships;
Manage and maintain internal and external relations and networks, including the interface with Government, Service providers, Stakeholders, SBU’s and BU’s and other functions;
Ensure stakeholder engagement strategy and plans are aligned with Socio-Economic Development of BUs, regions and Company in consultation with EXCO, operational GM’s and Mine Managers;
Facilitate stakeholder engagement forums and represent Company in a professional manner.

Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

More than 10 years plus of solid business development experience, marketing, delivering profitable solutions to drive sales, attract and maintain customers. Experienced in sales and marketing.

Qualification: Ideally Engineering degree with an MBA or Business Management or open to pursuing such a degree.
