CREDIT ANALYST

This person will be responsible for research, investigation and analysis of information on Commercial Entities for Credit insurance purposes.

Key Requirements:

Education/qualifications:

• Matric
• A graduate with a credit/financial/risk related degree (with preferable majors in Economics and/or Finance).

Work experience:

• At least 1 year financial, credit or credit insurance experience (with a preference of 2-3 years).
• Experience working with financials (including calculation and analysis of financial ratios and margins) is a definite advantage.
• Experience and proficiency in system-based research is an advantage. Previous experience with reports and ratings, and general analysis of companies is also beneficial.
• General knowledge of and interest in industry and trends, as well as general corporate climate trends is beneficial.

Other requirements:

• Should have high proficiency in PC literacy, including advanced MS Excel and advanced MS Word.
• Should be able to conduct complete financial analysis
• Must be proficient in the compiling and deduction of financial ratios and margins
• Should have a good industry and corporate climate general knowledge
• Should be process driven and display proficiency in system based research
• Should have excellent verbal and communication skills
• Must be able to communicate with all levels of stakeholders in a professional and confident manner, displaying diplomacy where appropriate
• Must be results driven, with the ability to work under pressure as well as time management skills.
• Should have proficient internet skills (research and information gathering perspective)
• Must display decision making skills
• Should possess a passion for current events and investigation
• Should have high attention to detail

Key Responsibilities:

• Commercial entity investigation and analysis for credit insurance purposes.
• Telephonic Interviewing of various commercial entities for detailed information gathering purposes.
• Report Generation for external use.
• Follow up with suppliers on overdue reports.
• Financial statement analysis of various commercial entities across all industry sectors.
• Financial ratio calculation and interpretation.
• Business information sourcing and extraction from various commercial entities across all industry sectors
• Generation of risk assessment opinions on commercial entities investigated, for internal use.
• Regulating requests received in the ICON Tool (in-house system), all phases.
• All Administration linked to the ICON Tool.
• Investigation and Analysis of all foreign entities for credit insurance purposes.
• Communication with Business Line clients on an on-going basis.
• Managing of all price lists linked to Business line process and effective communication of prices to the Business Line clients on an on-going basis.
• EIC income and expense monitoring and control.
• Daily monitoring of pending orders.
• Updating Local and international database with adverse information, received via the monitoring process.
• Management and control of the debtors book analysis product.
• Facilitation of Group reviews and link management.
• Attending to any administration linked to Debtor Visits.
• Compile in depth Industry reports as per schedule.
• Compile in depth Country reports as per schedule and platform.
• Preparation of News Paper articles for publication.
• Control and management of the Turnover Projection Model.
• Ad hoc research and functions on request

Key Shortlisting Criteria:
• Appropriate tertiary qualification (credit/financial/risk related degree)
• Financial statement analysis experience (including ratios and margins)
• Financial, credit or credit insurance work experience
• Fast learner with the ability to grasp financial concepts quickly
