Contract position in the mining sector in a remote and safe area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Single status position (not favourable for wives and families to reside there). Reports to the Financial Accountant.

JOB PURPOSE: The primary function is to administer the information, payment and reconciliation of creditors within the pre-defined standards as set out in the company policies and procedures. Secondary functions will include assisting the Financial Manager with financial year end and other accounting duties from time to time.
A combination of the completion of a tertiary qualification in Accounting and three to five years specific experience in the control of creditors
3 years minimum experience in creditors reconciliations
Well spoken in English fluency, French an advantage
Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications
Proficient in ERP systems
General accounting understanding and exposure
Strong reconciliation abilities
Intermediate Microsoft Office user
Dealing with Multi currency suppliers and multiple payment terms
Detail understanding of the three way matching principle
Mining experience preferable
Internal: HOD’s, Financial Accountant, Cost Accountant, Capital/Fixed Assets Accountant, Payroll Accountant, Clerks, Procurement Manager, Buyers, Stores Manager, Receivers
External: Suppliers, External Audit and Internal Audit
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Supplier record creation in Syspro
Take complete ownership of supplier database and ensure all relevant information is obtained and maintained correctly
Ensure all invoices are DRC tax complaint, registered and approved in Syspro
Perform weekly payment runs
Month-end reconciliations: Supplier statements are to be obtained and reconciliations done by the 10th working day of the following month; GRV account to be reconciled on a monthly basis
Deal with supplier account related queries efficiently and timeously: Follow up on all outstanding queries with the various departments to ensure credits, refunds or payments are processed timeously.
Preparing regular and ad hoc reports: A monthly ageing with comments (reasons) as to why any amounts are still outstanding in 90 days or older for a supplier / any debit balances; Ensure that these queries/outstanding payments are resolved within the week.
Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company's automated financial systems.
REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary up to US$84,000 per annum net plus benefits, dependant on skills and experience.
