Our client is seeking a Customs Affairs Manager who will Audit products against customs and other statutory body requirements. Be aware of and record statutory regulations pertaining to the exportation and importation of cargo. Determine tariff classification and customs valuation and calculate duties and taxes. Attend to problems, stops and detains in the clearance of cargo through customs. Audit entry documentation to determine whether refunds are due, or vouchers of correction are required. Advise client on the establishment of rebate and bond facilities. Control the payment of customs deferred payments. Manage the customs department. Comply with the provision of customs accreditation

Duties & Responsibilities:

Supervision

Assist C&F Manager with supervision of the team.
Finding ways to streamline and improve the department.
Assist staff with problem solving especially with regards to criteria for SARS, DAFF, NRCS, State Vet, PPECB, Port Health etc
Quality controls & assisting C&F Supervisor with signing off shipping files once completed.

Processes & Procedures

Ensure all systems information, documents and administrations are completed and updated in a timely and efficient manner and according to regulations and internal procedures.
Develop supplier relationships and ensure that all valid copies of GIT cover and BBEEE ratings are submitted to HR, Finance and SHEQ departments.
Ensure team is compliant with all statutory and regulatory requirements for imports and exports as set by SARS and relevant bodies.
Comfortable with liaising with SARS, State Vet, NRCS and ITAC as necessary and daily /weekly as appropriate.

Customer Care

Communicate and interact with the customer service department and internal sales support services on a daily basis and ensure that customer service is continually improved, and service delivery is of excellent standards.
Work closely with internal sales support manager to ensure customers are kept updated and expectations are met.

Business Generation

Assist in maintaining departmental profitability and develop plans as necessary.
Visit key customers as and when required and network as necessary to grow the business.
Assist customers with ITAC permits and necessary registrations or affiliations to move their goods.

Reporting

Ensure SARS Deferment Outlay forecasts are done and updated to Finance on weekly basis.
Ensure SARS Deferment Account is reconciled, and payment made timeously. C&F Manager to be included,
Assist with Transnet account reconciliation and forecasting to Finance on a weekly basis.
Send weekly activity report to Operations Manager
Send weekly outstanding invoices report to Operations Manager
Assist with Month end Reports.
Analise cargo volumes per client on a monthly basis to see increase / decrease in volumes and report findings to C&F manager.
And any other duties/tasks relevant to the position as delegated by Management.

Requirements:

Knowledge of Customs and Excise requirements for movement of goods into and outside of South Africa.
5 Years' Experience with complete knowledge of all Customs Import & Export Rules and Regulations
Relevant Qualifications in customs compliance
Good mathematical and analytical skill sets.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with ability to assist with problem solving and delivering on expectations.
A Matric Certificate.
Certification or diploma in the logistics an advantage.
At least intermediate Excel level.
Working knowledge of Shipshape system or similar
Solid Clearing and Forwarding Imports/Exports experience required.
Sound knowledge of shipping documents & procedures required.

Salary between R45 000 and R65 000CTC, negotiable.
