Our Client based in Centurion is looking to hire a Data Architect, this is a contract position for a period of 12 Months

Purpose of Position
Accountable for the design, alignment and implementation of Enterprise Data Management architecture and practices in the company by providing a standard common business information vocabulary, outlining strategic data requirements as well as high level integrated designs to meet these requirements. The Data Architect aligns with business strategy and architecture.

Responsibilities
Develop strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of a database
Organizes data at the macro and micro level
Provide a logical data model as a standard for the golden source and for consuming applications to inherit
Define database structure, capabilities, backup, recovery and security specifications
Maintain database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance; answering user questions
Design and develop Databases, Data Warehouses and Multidimensional Databases
Data Architecture aligned to Business and Enterprise Architecture
Governance processes for change management
Data security framework and plans in place
Disaster Recovery Plans in place
Business stoppages due to database performance
Facilitate routine maintenance of database performance
Install database systems i.e. develop flowcharts, apply optimum access techniques, coordinate installation actions, define and document installation process

Requirements and Knowledge
Qualifications
Matric
B-Degree in Computer Sciences/ Engineering (Honours or Masters)
Togaf Certified
Data Analtyics certificate
DMBOK-Advantageous
eTom Certificate Advantageous

Work Experience
5-7 years of experience with information technology programs and services, with demonstrated expertise in enterprise data management and related technologies
Minimum 5-7 years of data architect experience
3-5 years of Management experience in an IT environment
Experience with three or more of the following systems: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Troux, Rochade, iGrafx, WebSphere, and Cognos
Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), web services, enterprise data management, information security, applications development, and cloud-based architectures
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, including Visio and Project
Experience in project management is a bonus
