Job Purpose:

To protect accounts receivable by supervising the credit controllers for controlling the credit risk while maximizing cash turnover, disseminate information to management, assist the Credit manager to minimize risk. . The Credit Supervisor is responsible for the formal and professional obligations and deliverables in accordance to define standards, authority matrix, enforce the disciplines, and any standards within the SLAs and credit management procedures.


Job Objectives:

Distribution Client liaison/ internal client liaison, formal reviews and feedback

Compliance and conformance with ISAE3402, credit mandates and KPIs and any other applicable standards.
Supervising a set or several portfolios of customer accounts.
Proposing assessment of risk to Credit Manager by utilizing financial skills and credit tools (financial statement analysis, credit vetting reports, trade and bank reports) when approving set credit lines for new customers and when reviewing existing credit facilities.
Supervises, and develops credit controllers in the proper handling of credit, collection, cash application, and deduction functions.
Provides training and guidance of personnel when necessary
Assists in the formulation and development of credit policies and procedures. Interprets approved policies to all concerned and assures conformity to these policies.
Co-ordinates flow of information with sales and other relevant areas of business in order to minimize risk maximize sales and increase profits.
Prepare required monthly reports for “marginal” accounts, accounts receivable analysis, and relevant financial statement analysis and reconciliations
Assesses the collectability of distressed debtor exposures and proposes the appropriate course of action.
Proposes to the Credit manager the conditions that present uncollectable account to bad debt.
Review and evaluation of subordinates
Develop departmental teamwork by having weekly team meetings and one-on-one sessions with personnel as needed.
Customer visits to maintain customer goodwill and to obtain credit information.
Propose if and when to withhold trade payments to customers depending on the circumstances.
Ensure there is segregation of functions within roles and functions.
Supervise functions of the Credit Controller & Debt collector, the Credit / Debtors Administrator, Master Data, Payment Application and deductions and claims

Experience and Education:

Matriculation with HG math’s or accounting and at Degree in Finance or Commerce. Order to cash audit is advantageous.

At least 5 years’ experience in credit control and 3 years supervision in high volume FMCG / Wholesale will be advantageous
Advanced use of MS Office (Excel & word)
