Location: Johannesburg
Description: A leading paint and colour manufacturer requires a Development Manager for their Technical Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the progress and implantation of roadmaking and transport projects. Duties will include but is not limited to: Develop new product innovations; Coach and lead a team of technician/Chemists to achieve the section goals/targets/objectives; Achieve required product and technical service support output; Performance management of staff; Identify area of specialization within Architectural teams – grow and master the role and share learnings with the team; Play a “teaching role” within the lab; Develop training notes and programmes for specialization areas; Ensure compliance with ISO Quality and Environmental Codes of Practice; Ensure healthy and safe working practices in the department; Reviewing technical specifications, stability/validation protocols, reports and other quality documents; Develop new processes and methods to improve product efficiency and productivity; Identify and execute opportunities to streamline development processes and drive efficiencies throughout development and manufacturing organisations; Maintain current awareness pf competitive products and technologies; Keep in touch with the global coatings markets, be informed of latest trends and new technology opportunities.
Key Requirements: BSc Hons in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry; MSc or PhD will be advantageous. 5 years practical experience and 2 years management experience. Preference will be given to EE candidates.
