JOB TITLE:
Marketing Executive

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To take responsibility for all marketing related activities in the business. This includes, but is not limited to, marketing strategy, content creation, managing public relations, managing the website, blogs, email lists and newsletters, and creating social media campaigns and online awareness. In addition, managing both paid and unpaid media channels, liaising and managing 3rd party marketing providers, and organising marketing events. The role would require networking at entrepreneurial events to help identify suitable deal flow for the fund.

CANDIDATE
This position requires a generalist marketing candidate with the experience and understanding to drive the marketing requirements of the business and brand. The candidate will be responsible for inbound, social media, blog, content, SEO, website, e-mail lists, products, paid media, and PR. This position requires a candidate who is a good writer with an understanding of the South African technology industry, who can keep our client`s brand's voice consistent across published content and understand how to use our website, and online channels to generate qualified traffic and business leads. The candidate will have excellent communication skills, and will be able to effectively communicate internally as well as to clients. The candidate will be responsible to introduce, interface and generate leads from potential investors and entrepreneurs, to entrench themselves in the South African Technology VC and start-up community. The person will be responsible to organize events both for fund raising and lead generation, from initial concept to execution. Our client is looking for a self-motivated person who can work independently while taking direction from the business. The person must have the ability to resolve challenges quickly, analyse requirements and report effectively. The candidate will obtain a deep understanding of our company’s business goals and operations.

DETAILS OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
CONTENT AND MARKETING STRATEGY & EXECUTION
• Develop content strategy.
• Create marketing calendar and manage timelines.
• Accountable for all content marketing initiatives to drive traffic, engagement, leads, that deliver sales and customer retention.
• Measurement and optimization of the program.

CONTENT CREATION & MONITORING
• Write several types of articles for content distribution.
• Create content relevant to the media and journalists.
• Grow blog subscribers, convert visitors into leads, and expand our reach.

PUBLIC RELATIONS
• Interface with the PR company to provide direction and content.
• Assist in connecting with influential media outlets and journalists to place company news.
• Identify and organise speaking engagements for specialists.
• Collaborate with prominent members of the company to craft and pitch press releases and thought leadership columns.

SEO CREATE & OPTIMISE
• Manage both on-page SEO and off-page SEO
• Manage and improve organic search engine performance and goal-setting based on click through rates, traffic, and conversions.
PAID & UNPAID MEDIA CREATION & MANAGEMENT
• This person must understand the basic best practices of the main social media channels, which content and approaches work on each and why.
• Manage the strategy and setup of all paid campaigns.
• Measure and optimize our paid marketing using dashboards, Google Analytics, and marketing analytics reports.
• Craft landing pages and lead generation forms for our content.

3RD PARTY MARKETING MANAGEMENT
• Management all external 3rd party marketing resources including web developers, public relations personnel, and channels.

EVENTS CONCEPTUALISE & EXECUTE
• Conceptualise, execute and manage events for our client`s potential and existing investors and lead generation for entrepreneurs.
• Assist with event planning, including working with vendors, event coordinators, and design teams for onsite collateral.

WEBSITE ADVISE, OPTIMISE & UPDATE
• Collaborate with marketing and design teams to plan and develop site content, style and layout
• Use content management systems to analyse website traffic and users’ engagement metrics

• Comply with law (e.g. copyright and data protection)
NEWSLETTER BASE MAINTAIN & COMMUNICATE
• Grow subscriber base organically by providing them with regular content.
• Manage various email campaigns, including the designs, calls-to-action, and content used in our email sends.
• Measure results and optimise them to convert leads into customers.

PRODUCT POSITIONING
• Educate internal and external stakeholders about our products and their benefits.
• Create content (e.g. sales documentation, case studies, product videos, website copy, blog posts, Quora / forum responses) to articulate the benefits of our products.
• Assist members of team on calls with prospects when appropriate to provide deeper dives into the product.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Stay up-to-date with digital marketing trends and potential new channels and strategies to keep our client ahead, including updates to social media marketing.
• Create free resources to drive leads, subscribers, awareness, and/or other important metrics (examples include eBooks, whitepapers, infographics, guides, templates, etc.).

• Attend weekly events to stay abreast of industry trends, help identify suitable deal flow for the fund.

KNOWLEDGE & WORK SKILLS
• A passion and strong understanding of the industry and our business' mission.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills.
• Good organizational skills to work independently and manage projects with many moving parts.
• 2-3 years of marketing and content creation experience.
• Experience creating content for the web and growing a social audience
• Knowledge of SEO, web traffic metrics.
• Familiarity with social media.
• Experience organising events.
