Kendrick Recruitment are now looking for a Direct Travel Consultant for an international lodge/resort group to be based at their Head Office in Sandton, Johannesberg. Direct Travel Consultant- The sucessful candidate will oversee and work with a team of travel planners who receive the direct enquiries off of the website – they then qualify the enquiry and start the sales process through to putting a quote together. These travel planners are all home workers. Majority of these are ex-Lodge staff with very big personalities, so the direct consultant needs to be able to handle that as they will fulfil all of the travel planner reservation enquiries.- The direct consultant is office based and they assist the travel planners should they require rates for third party properties that are not on the system, as well as actually booking the reservation.- They will also deal with direct guests (enquiries from the website) themselves so there are selling skills involved here.- They book the group Lodges as well as third party properties.We are looking for a creative, independent, dynamic, enthusiastic, service driven team player to join the group's Direct Team in JHB. The successful candidate will report to the Reservations Manager.KEY OUTPUTS:? Calm and professional interaction with both suppliers and travel planners, telephonically & via email? Creative and out of the box planning and designing of itineraries? Handling reservation requests either email or telephonic? Processing of reservations from quote to finalising, including reservations, invoicing and travel documents? Professional servicing of our dynamic direct guests? Proactive selling of our products and services ensuring the best possible safari for the guest? Saturday duty and cell phone duty on a rotation basis? Public holiday duty and cell phone duty on a rotation basis? Working hours – shift work required (07:00 – 15:30 & 09:30 – 18:00) on rotation basis? Backup for colleagues when they are away from the office? Expanding product knowledge through attending training sessions? An independent, curious and “can do it” nature KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:? A good knowledge of Tanzania, Kenya, Zanzibar, Zambia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique, Rwanda, Uganda, Seychelles? A good knowledge on FIT and Groups policies and procedures? Communication skills and a good command of the English language? Tourplan reservations systemSKILLS REQUIRED:? Time & desk management? Computer aptitude? Understanding of travel industry? Attention to detail? Elaborating in writing explanations or descriptions? Exceptionally customer focused? Creativeness, flexibility, high energy and patience? Must have at least 2 years reservation experience preferably in a tour operating environment, no hotel, car rental reservations?The salary for this position is R16,000 CTC.
