Purpose:
Ensure medicine benefit allocations are applied and executed correctly according to the rules.
To contain medicine costs within the budgeted amount by applying formularies, clinical protocols and evidence-based medicine for medicine authorisations.
Telephonic authorisations from doctor, chronic benefit information and to improve health outcomes.
Develop DUR guidelines and funding policies

Requirements
B.Pharm
Registered with the SAPC (South African Pharmacy Council)
2-3 years Drug Utilisation Review Pharmacist in a medical schemes environment
Professional with in-depth pharmaceutical knowledge in medicine and its use
Sound knowledge of DUR (Drug utilization review) and administration processes
Clinical coding
Computing literacy
Knowledge of the Medical Schemes Act and related legislation
