SUMMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assessment and application of client specifications in all aspects of the design
Assist with EC&I execution works costing during tendering – Compiling EC&I equipment RFQ’s, compiling a detailed Scope of Works for EC&I subcontract, technical evaluations an adjudications.
Assist with the Procurement function during project execution:
Compile RFQs for EC&I equipment
Compile detailed Scope of Works for EC&I subcontract
Conduct technical evaluations and adjudications
Attend and/or lead kick-off meetings with vendors & EC&I subcontractors
Assist with the preparation of P & IDs and design documentation, including plant layout design
Liaise with supplementary external consultants and design partners
Manage the EC&I design subcontractor and suppliers to meet deliverables (technical, program, cost)
Execute basic and detailed EC&I design during project execution
Assist with the specification of PLC, SCADA, and/or Human Machine Interfaces during project execution phase
Review, approve, and sign off on EC&I design as generated by design subcontractors, including Single Line Diagrams, Electrical Load Lists, I/O Lists, Control Architecture, Loop Drawings, MCC/PLC cabinet layout drawings, cable schedules, Termination Drawings, Bill of Quantities, etc.
Assess client specifications to prepare proposals/reports on cost-saving alternatives
Coordinate EC&I concessions, technical proposals, and variation orders on projects
Assist with the preparation of Process Control Philosophy and Functional Design Specification documentation
Complete work according to standard engineering principles and practices
Monitor and review hardware and software products relating to automation and information technologies
Keep current in automation and network computing technology trends
Facilitate and perform factory acceptance tests (hardware and software)
Compile and manage as-built documentation
Compile and manage vendor and subcontractor databooks
Compile and manage plant technical and maintenance manuals
Liaise with the Client and subcontractors to ensure functional, safe installation and maintenance within the project
Provide project-specific input to the Project Manager to resolve construction issues during site work
Provide hot and cold commissioning assistance, including coordination of EC&I pre-commissioning activities (e.g., punching, loop checking, sign-off of check sheets)
Investigate and coordinate corrective measures that may arise on site during construction and warranty period
Maintain currency of professional competence and specialist knowledge
Undertake small projects as required
Represent the company during meetings

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Degree or Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
Minimum of five years’ experience as an EC&I Engineer in turnkey projects or a similar field (Water, Waste or Energy projects)
ECSA Registration as a Professional Engineer will be advantageous.
