Job Title: Electrical Assistant (Elconop 2/3 Level) (Salary 6 to 8k)

Must Comply with the following:

-Employed in the electrical industry as a practicing Elconop 2/3 for a continuous period of no less than 18 months and undergone the specified
formal training and has successfully passed the examination for an Elconop 2/3 at an accredited, institutionalized training center
-Elconop 2/3 License (send Elconop 2/3 License with application)
-SA Identity Document
-Age 21-35
-Must Reside in the Northern Suburbs, Western Cape (or willing to relocate at own expense)
-EE/AA Position
-Willing to work after hours, weekends, Public Holidays and December
-Industrial Experience would be beneficial.
-Valid driver’s license
-Required language: English and Afrikaans

Responsibilities and Duties

-Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power t
tools
-Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and
correct the problem
-Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
-Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure
compliance with codes
-Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
-Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters and
voltmeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system
-Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations
-Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes
-Lead, direct and train co-workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
-Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
-Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment
-Install and connect power cables to equipment
-Installation of electrical, data, voice, alarm and security cables
-Wiring and assembling of distribution boards
-Installing and connecting distribution boards
-Complete tubing, wiring, and connection of electrical and data installations and repetitive work of similar nature on floors for domestic and
commercial installations
-Testing of an electrical installation
-Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment
-Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
-Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
-Installation of wireways, conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables
through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes
-Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications
-Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets
-Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects
-Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services
-Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights and generators, and driving needed vehicles

Required Minimum Experience

-High school - Matric
-Unencumbered driver's license
-Elconop 2/3 successfully completed training
-Studying towards a Red Seal Certification would be advantageous
-2 + years’ experience in electrical installations and maintenance on commercial and domestic systems
-Computer literate
-Technical Skills
-Administrative skills
-Planning
-Able to work well in a team
-Capable of lifting and carrying a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance
-Excellent hand-eye coordination
-Demonstrable knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment
-Strong interpersonal communication skills
