Energy Engineer

R 800 000,00 per annum

SUMMARY

Our client operates in the industrial minerals sector and focuses on the mining, processing, and distribution of calcium carbonate, limestone, and other industrial mineral.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement a group-wide structured approach to achieving energy performance improvements
Undertake verification and reconciliations against utility bills, undertake analyses on tariff structures, and advise on consumption optimisation
Identify, evaluate and develop renewable and alternative energy opportunities to reduce energy costs, improve energy security and mitigate carbon taxes;
Manage the implementation of renewable and alternative energy projects
Collaborate with the Company Projects Team to ensure that energy considerations are integrated into the projects
Perform energy audits on significant energy users across the Company Group;
Establish and direct the organisation to achieve an ISO 50001-aligned energy management programme
Identify alternative fuels to satisfy the Company’s energy requirements e.g., coals and liquid fuels;
Undertake technical feasibilities to ensure suitability
Keep abreast of developments in energy and carbon regulation

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Eng. qualification or equivalent;
Certified Energy Manager accreditation
ISO 50001 Management System Training;
5 years’ experience in heavy industry/mining in a related discipline;
3 years’ experience in energy management
Extensive knowledge of energy-efficient technologies (electrical and thermal);
Extensive knowledge of renewable energy technologies;
Familiarity with energy efficiency tax incentives, carbon tax, M&V processes
