JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: To design, implement and commission industrial Flame and Gas detection systems and Field Equipment according to client requirements and specifications. To assume Systems Engineering role in support of customer requirements and expectations as part of the organization Sales and service solution.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
• Maintain and improve relationships with key stakeholders
• In a project environment perform system design, configuration, testing and commissioning tasks as the projects require and guide junior team members in technical execution
• Conduct training to customers and staff as and when required
• Provide technical and product service to customers
• Resolve any customer complaints that might arise and exceed expectation wherever possible
• Prepare and present monthly feedback to client status meetings
• Advice on upgrading and product migration
• Hardware and software fault finding from system to instrument
• Recommendations to client for system optimisation, in consultation with Senior Engineers
• Strict adherence to financial policies and procedures to be observed
• Ensure system implementations are done according to SANS and NFPA standards

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIOnS:
• Grade 12
• NDip/BSc/BTech Engineering (Process Control and instrumentation)

EXPERIENCE:
• 2-3 years’ experience in the projecting environment configuring, testing, commissioning instrumentation and control systems (DCS or PLC) (Work that has prepared you for this job)
• Fire systems or SCADA experience would be an advantage
• Drivers Licence (Code EB)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Applied knowledge relating to engineering within a Process or Industrial Control environment
• Communicate effectively with the client to ensure that the fire system meets his requirements
• Be able to interpret P&ID’s, logic diagrams, Cause and effect diagrams, control narratives and configure the fire system to implement these specifications
• Knowledge of serial interfaces such as Modbus
• Field design such as instrument positioning, cable routes, cable schedules, loop diagrams
• Creating graphical interfaces (eg Adroit or Wonderware)

• Be able to carry out customer acceptance tests of the hardware and software
• Ensure industry safety practices and best practice are observed at all times
