Job Objective(s):
• To lead the Engineering Services Department, throughout the organisation, with overall responsibility, to maintain plant equipment, facilities,
utilities and systems in a way that ensures production reliability for production of low cost, high quality products in compliance with all
engineering, legislative and safety standards.
• Responsible for installation, maintenance, safe operation and repair of electrical, mechanical and instrumentation equipment in plant as
required, supporting the current assembly operation.
• To be a key member of site management team responsible for completing job duties in a manner that supports all plant safety, quality,
environmental practices.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the Maintenance department based on a preventative maintenance strategy to maintain all equipment, facilities, and systems in a safe
and efficient working condition while achieving an accident free work place and meeting all machinery/product safety and quality standards;
• Provide leadership that optimize the talent contribution of a multi-skilled maintenance team. With HR assist with the hiring, selection, and
training of personal to ensure personnel are qualified to perform the work effectively and safely;
• Responsible for an effective maintenance parts & supplies procurement program that achieves reliability and cost objectives;
• Manage and administer the maintenance of HVAC systems, industrial boilers, compressors, transformers, effluent plant, RO plant, etc.;
• Prepare and manage departmental budgets and plans;
• Prepare and manage annual and long range Maintenance and Utilities strategies;
• Assure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations;
• Develop collaborative relationship with peers to ensure optimum use of resources, budgets, priorities and schedules for maintenance while
optimising production;
• Plan for and provide a work environment that allows and encourages participation
• Ensure accurate up-to-date maintenance costing’s are available and managed effectively;
• Plan, execute and lead maintenance activities for feasibility studies, equipment specifications, supplier selections, equipment commissioning
and validation;
• Schedule and facilitate meetings;
• Ensure that critical documentation is approved and signed off both internally and externally;
• Ensure correct scheduling of maintenance works with critical stakeholders (client, internal key stakeholders) ;
• Ensure the maintenance team is appropriately resourced with the necessary staff, and engage with HR on resource requirements;
• Manage internal and external resource to ensure maintenance activities are completed on time;
• Plan engineering works to minimise impact on production operations;
• Provide close liaison between engineering and production during equipment installation;
• Ensure good communication channels are in place and effective i.e. Communicate on an on-going basis, with internal and external team
members particularly during the execution phases;
• Prepare and present at the scheduled cost review meetings (monthly);
• Ensure completed plant changes are successfully handed over to the appropriate function;
• Develop and implement a CMMS (computerized maintenance management information system) for preventative maintenance to prolong the
lifespan of physical assets, and legislative inspections of all plant and equipment in field. This includes critical spares and equipment list;;
• Manage and document the change request/notification process.


Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
• Mechanical or Electro/ mechanical engineering degree. Government certificate (GCC) is essential
• 10 Plus years’ experience with increasing responsibilities in maintenance, engineering, or production; including 8 years supervisory experience. Experience in both self-directed work teams and autonomous maintenance preferred
• Experience in a FMCG sector, preferably at a similar position.

• Develop and implement a proactive engineering and maintenance support strategy focused on increasing equipment reliability and proven

• Effective decision maker
• Working Knowledge of multi-discipline field of maintenance, plant engineering, and manufacturing
• Balance of technical, maintenance, human relations, and conceptual skills.
• Excellent oral / written communication skills;
• Excellent computer skills;
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations;
• Experience working with FMCG plants will be an added advantage;
• Decision making skills, analytical, problem solving skills and negotiating skills;
• Understanding of risk management processes;
