RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Estimating the actual costing for any given work being quoted on
1.1. Preparing detailed cost estimates of work to be carried out based on
information supplied in RFQ’s (Requests for quotations) from the company’s Sales Engineers and / or RFQ’s direct from existing clients or tender boards of based on the company and industry norms.
1.2 Preparing a project plan detailing resources and times.
1.3 Discussing and obtaining from sales personnel further details and information required to ensure an accurate estimate.
1.4 Assist sales teams with tenders & word document proposals and quotations.
1.5 Liaising with the end client when required.
1.6 Responsibility of meeting deadlines for tenders remains with Estimator who will manage all available resources, internally relating to final completion and submission, jointly with relevant external sales executives

2. Preparing of detailed quotations / tenders
2.1. Preparing of detailed quotations and / or tenders that conform to;
2.1.1. Company’s standard format and policy
2.1.2. Clients requests in their RFQ
2.1.3. Encompassing other standard industry formats such as
2.1.3.1. NEC 3
2.1.3.2. FIDIC

3. Source Documents and schedules for estimating
3.1. Keeping up to date a cost price schedule of the cost of raw materials
and buy out items used in compiling estimates.
3.1.1. Keeping up to date a m² application and usage rate of Company materials based on wastage and other influencing factors based on past experience derived from prior jobs to enable continual better accuracy of estimating based on past experience

4. Sales Price book
4.1. Keeping up to date a selling price spreadsheet and selling price
summary to be used by sales engineers as a basis for non-complicated
quoting.


5. Cost checking of work completed
5.1. Comparing actual costs to estimated costs
5.1.1. Checking stock used corresponds to the estimate.
5.1.2. Checking man hours are relevant to the estimate.
5.1.3. Checking other costs incurred are as per the estimate
5.2. Informing management when actual costs and estimated cost are
outside of any pre-determined parameters.
5.3. Instituting of corrections for future estimates based on the outcomes of
investigations into the jobs that did not conform with actuals to
estimates when it is clear that production is not able to conform with the estimate.
5.4. Ensuring that the invoice message, price, order number, delivery note
number and any other relevant are correct for invoicing.

6. Sales Analysis
6.1. Keeping sales analysis records up to date for the purpose of strategic
planning and review of performance of both branch and individual sales persons.
8.2 Ensure the Company is on the vendor lists of the customers/client

REQUIREMENTS:

* Minimum Grade 12 with extensive previous experience as an estimator in a similar industry. Required subjects mathematics and science
* The ideal candidate would have a tertiary qualification in;
a). Certified Cost Technician and / or Cost Engineer Course or
b). National Diploma: Engineering; Bachelor of Technology: Quantity Surveying or
c). NEC 3 and FIDIC contracts

PACKAGE:
