MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The job incumbent will be responsible for production planning and scheduling in the most cost efficient way, taking cognizance of customer specifications, production processes and dispatch limitations.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION REGARDING THE JOB
In this position, the job incumbent will be part of the Marketing-Metal Handing House (MHH) team. The MHH section performs the value-add activities of EMM flake washing and degassing, EMM powder and briquette production, as well as packaging of the final products into bulk bags, small bags, boxes or drums, according to customer specification. The job incumbent’s role is a key function to this team, as the person will be scheduling these production activities in accordance with the sales concluded by our sales managers. Orders to be produced and shipped to customers in locations such as Germany, Japan, Canada, South Korea or the US, for arrival in a specific week several months into the future and must be planned according to the throughput parameters of the MHH section, as well as the availability and transit times of the logistics service providers. The logistics service providers include rail transport, road transport, customs, port authorities, shipping lines and overseas warehouses.
The job incumbent will be the co-ordinator that ensures alignment of our sales orders, our production team and the logistics pipeline, with the sole purpose of customer service excellence. The Marketing-MHH team offers a very dynamic working environment, where the person will be part of the daily excitement of delivering the world’s highest quality EMM to customers all over the world, directly from the lovely town of Nelspruit.
JOB OBJECTIVES
Responsible for production planning and scheduling of products, considering production capacity and constraints including the monitoring of delivery schedules, stock levels as well as Mn units
Monitor availability of transport and equipment for export and liaise with service providers such as shipping lines on a daily basis to ensure on time delivery to customers
Ensure timeous communication to agents and customers in terms of schedules, delays, short shipments or any order changes to maintain good working relationships and a good customer satisfaction index on an on-going basis
Ensure reduction of quality issues within marketing
Keep Product Control Systems updated with current information and deliver reports to management in order to ensure updates in terms of production, logistics and sales
Adhere and comply to all HSEQ legislation, policy and procedures at all times
Lead a successful high performing team to ensure growth and sustainability
Adhere to the section cost control measure, leading to improved efficiencies
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Logistics (or related field)
Minimum of 5 Years’ experience in export/import logistics in a production environment
Advanced working knowledge of MS Office
Supervisory experience will be an added advantage as there will be employees reporting to the position
