This Karoshoek solar thermal power project in co-operation with the company SERATYPE will start recruiting in April 2018 for the Operations Maintenance phase and we are inviting candidates with relevant qualification and experience to apply for the below permanent position:

FIELD OPERATOR
KAROS AREA

Requirements:
- Grade 12 with a minimum 2 years' experience in mechanics or electronics.
- Knowledge and experience of thermal power station processes, instrumentation, the mechanics of equipment (pumps, turbines, valve systems, exchangers, etc.), electricity (high
and low voltage), PCI, HV AC, etc.
- Basic course on the prevention of occupational risks
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans

Responsibilities will include:
- Operation of the facility in a safe and efficient manner, as they are the person available at the Facility to perform manual work on equipment related to discharges required by the
shift supervisor, as well as the control of start-ups/shutdowns and the functioning of equipment during the day-to-day Operation of the facility.
- Ongoing control of all of the facility's activities, will participate in issues regarding the revision/preparation of technical instructions and procedures and will help with matters related
to discharges
- All reports issued should be addressed to the shift supervisor localizing faults in the facility and taking measures.
- Equipment maintenance and optimal management.
- Taking measures in the event of alarms
- Quality when performing checks and routine maintenance operations.
- Monitoring of safety procedures. ยท
- Capacity and availability to cover for the panel operator.
- Operation of the facility within the limits of the operational procedures and under the management of the shift supervisor.
- If deemed necessary by the shift supervisor, they should make the rounds of the facility, draft a daily report on the established data or parameters and inform the shift supervisor of
any important data.
- Carry out all local facility operations, including visits.
- Determine the operational level of the facility and the equipment.
- Conduct investigations in the event of alarms.
- Stop any work that is not carried out with a work permit, or that does not meet the established safety or quality specifications.
- Take on the responsibilities delegated by the field operators of the outgoing shift.
- Take part in training activities on and off site, to either receive or give training as necessary.
- Perform a key role in the emergency plan of the facility and provide assistance to the emergencies controller, and the work team tasked with fighting fire
- Carry out any necessary work assigned by the shift supervisor.
- Make any necessary checks.
- Achieve all necessary Ievels in all training modules.
- Control access to and activities in the control room.
- Initiate any facility operations necessary for the safety of the staff or the facility.
- Take responsibility for discharges conducted in work permits.
- In the event that they have to do the rounds, they should take responsibility for their reliability and all the data transmitted to the shift supervisor.
- Inform the shift supervisor of site work requests.
- Isolate the facility equipment as indicated by the shift supervisor and the established procedure, as per the safety and quality standards
