Purpose:
To attend to the mechanical and hydraulic maintenance and repair of company vehicles

Responsibilities
Undertake vehicle inspections and checks
Diagnose and fault finding as per the job card instructions
Identify parts to be replaced and/or repaired
Submit parts and consumables requisition to supervisor
Fix and fit parts and consumables as required
Ensure that work quality is consistent with prescribed standards
Ensure all machines, equipment and/or gear is in a safe working conditions on commencement of any repairs, and left in a safe working condition on completion of repairs
Isolate the unit before leaving site
Report any incomplete repairs on units unfit for use to the supervisor as well as to the person in charge on site
Conform with the departments job card procedure i.e. labour, kilometres, travelling, buy-outs, stores issues or sundries processing
Operators logbooks to be signed each time a mechanic visits the machines

Requirements
Matriculation Certificate or N3
Valid Driver’s licence
Formal SAQA accredited qualification as a diesel mechanic
5 – 10 years’ experience as a mechanic
Proven track record in fault finding and repairs on mobile cranes and trucks
