Finance Officer
Main purpose of the job
To provide financial, administrative and clerical support to NICD financial and procurement
operations.
Location
NICD, Sandringham, Johannesburg
Key performance areas
Finance administration and reporting:
Performing general finance administration duties inclusive of monthly creditor reconciliations,
confirming payroll information, inter-project transfers and allocations
Administer all reconciliations (i.e. petty cash, credit card and fuel card) accurately and timely
Prepare monthly forecasting, castings and project reports and compile relevant donor funding
reports as requested
Report and account for all accruals at year end
Perform adhoc administrative and bookkeeping duties, as required
Procurement and purchases:
Compile and/or receive purchase order requisitions to purchase goods and/or services and issue
purchase order numbers
Obtain quotations from suppliers according to relevant policies and procedures
Follow-up with suppliers on delivery of goods and expected delivery date
Provide feedback to stakeholders on consumables ordered / received and ensure relevant
documentation is completed
Suppliers administration and relationship:
Source suppliers according to the organisation’s criteria and standards
Develop and maintain a preferred suppliers list or database
Ensure best prices, quality and services are negotiated and a warranty register is maintained
Compliance:
Quality assure all documentation for WHC and donor compliance and assist in the preparation of
relevant site audits and queries
Required minimum education and training
Relevant certificate or diploma will be required
Required minimum work experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a finance and procurement administration role
Competencies
Bookkeeping / accounting knowledge
Knowledge of relevant donor requirements, supplier requirements and asset management systems.
Computer literacy, with knowledge of Microsoft office in particular Excel
Good interpersonal skills with sound verbal and written communication skills
Must be meticulous, analytical and attention to detail orientated
Must be dependable and reliable
