FINANCIAL OPERATIONS MANAGER (SECURITIES)

Our Gauteng Based client is looking to grow their Finance Team.

This position reports into the Head of Financial Operations (Funds & Securities)

Pricing and Financial Operations (LISP)
• Understanding into the operational management of an unitisation environment.
• Familiar with MANCO trading and Distribution process
• System experience in an Investment Administration and Retirement Fund system will be a definitive advantage.

Minimum requirements / qualifications:
• B.Com-Economics/Accounting/Investment Management.
• Preferably Hons.
• Minimum 3 Years Operations Experience within an Investment Company
(Securities/LISP or Investment Manager)
• At least 2 years BDA experience (particularly in payments, receipts, journals) with a registered stockbroker

Key activities:
Securities
• Ensure correct allocation of deposits as well as timeous payments back to client bank accounts
• Supervise the processing of daily operational activities by team members
• Client requests: Manage the finance mailbox and attend to client requests accordingly
• Journals: Review and authorize transfers between client trading accounts (e.g. CFD to EQT)
• Deposits: Review and authorize allocation of client deposits into trading accounts (Equity, CFD, SSF)
• Payments: Review and authorize the processing of payments from trading accounts into client personal bank accounts as well as company obligatory payments to various companies;
• receive repayments (CFD and SSF payments, Intercompany loan accounts, Creditors), check trial balance accounts via BDA with daily payments and receipts
• Recon: Daily recon of client requested payments to the Online System and final payment bank submissions
• End of day Processes: Monitor the processing of information into the JSE system
• Non-Resident Accounts:
o Monitor payment process regarding different currencies and the use of correct banks
o Book deals and convert Rands to the relevant currency as per client requests
o Sign off bank forms for offshore payments
o Receive swift transfers (inwards) and complete bank forms for receipt of funds into bank accounts
o Ensure correct allocation and accessibility of common monetary area client funds
• Bank Recons:
o Follow up with departments and banks regarding unknown reconciling items
o Ensure allocation of known items to respective accounts on BDA (bank charges, monthly debits)
o Ensure correct recording of bank movements done by the JSE in the cashbook
o Check that segregation funds received from the JSE correspond to amounts in the cashbook
o Ensure that nonresident entries are reconciled and all funds due are moved accordingly
o Ensure compatibility of FNB and our in-house applications

• Understanding movement of funds from JSE trustees to Broker (and vice versa)
• Good understanding of money laundering requirements, JSE rules, exchange control, major bank systems
