Position Purpose 2
To implement the business value chain for the operations cluster with regard to fund and investment accounting principles that contribute to the growth and development of the MRA business through quality control standards services which supports a comprehensive range of fit for purpose and best in class retirement administration products.
The Incumbent will be responsible for: 3
•Review, analyse and present quarterly management accounts, cash flow statements and annual financial statements in line with our SLA.
•Enact the necessary procedures to guarantee the correct application of accounting keys across all funds in collaboration with peers.
•Ensure standardisation and controls inclusive of the correct implementation of all automation initiatives and ensuring ISAE3402 compliance within all fund and investment accounting principles
•Plan, document, initiate and manage annual statutory and internal audits. Oversee the audit process, audit queries, audit management letters and ensure improvement on the control environment with audit recommendations.
•Manage the process of client invoicing to ensure correctness and review the investments trail balance before submission.
•Sign-off and submission of all regulatory reports, i.e. SARB reports.
•Final review of Financial statements, cash flow statements, all accounting monthly reporting and review investment schedules for inclusion in AFS and management accounts
•Prepare, compile and present Client Annual Financial Statements
•Implement monthly asset liability matching procedures and review status of recons, and pending claims
•Manage budget for area of responsibility andarrange and ensure Fund Accounting training.
•Load and set up all new funds on Great Plains and review mapping on Case Ware
•Liaise, test and sign off all upgrades, changes and new automation with Great Plains consultant
•Manage all administration with regards to Great Plains and Case Ware
•Ensure collaboration within the team and with the rest of business
•Develop annual operating plan and secure resources necessary to achieve identified objectives consistent with medium term requirements.
•Compile, direct, control and optimise budgeted resources efficiently and effectively
•Ensure that practices and associated accounting processes are maintained, documented and enforced and provide associated training.
•Identify and analyse areas of risk in area of responsibility and develop solutions for improvement.
•Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to identify changing client needs.
•Manage a client service excellence culture which builds enduring relationships and allows others to provide exceptional client service.
•Create a positive work climate and culture to energise employees, give meaning to work, minimise work disruption and maximise employee productivity.
•Plan and implement a cycle of medium term improvements to drive pricing of services and products.
•Implement and manage financial risk methodologies, techniques and systems and use to monitor and report on financial activities.
•Implement and provide feedback on the effectiveness of financial policy, practice and procedures: preventing illegal, unethical or improper conduct.
The applicant should meet these requirements: 4
•CA (SA)
•7 years Accounting experience with 5 years managing people
•Insurance and/or Financial Services Industry experience would be beneficial
•Profound experience in investment and fund accounting procedures, and the application of unitisation principles.
