JOB TITLE: Foreman – Services (Boilers and Compressors)

DIRECT REPORTS: Boiler Operators/Assistant Operators/ General Workers

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB PURPOSE:
To monitor, control and direct the activities of the Boiler house crew to ensure the smooth and efficient daily operation of all machines and services for production supply. To ensure that maintenance work/preventative maintenance programme is carried out and complies with the Safety Act and GMP requirements. To liaise with production, engineering and outside service engineers to maintain plant efficiencies.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
Qualified artisan in a related field with a minimum of N3 qualification (Millwright, Fitter and Turner or Electrician) with a proven proficiency in all fields

Experience:
At least 5 years experience in related field of which 2 years must be at supervisory level

• Knowledge of boilers operations (coal fired and /or electric); cooling systems, conveyors, general maintenance practices; safety compliance

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE:
1. Monitor equipment efficiencies, continuous operation, downtime and corrective action
2. Ensure a safer working environment through equipment conformation to the regulations of the OHS Act and adherence of maintenance to all
GMP Standards

MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THIS ROLE:
1. Provide efficient foreman service
• Ensure all equipment/machinery in the section are maintained in good working order and maintain maximum boiler efficiencies to production
supply demands
• Control the sections expenses
• Interface effectively with production management so that production efficiencies and effective targets and company goals can be attained
• Submit daily/weekly reports for hours worked, efficiencies, breakdowns, maintenance planning, etc
• Verifies records of employee overtime, stores and inventories equipment service needs and other records as required.
• Conduct Daily and weekly Checklist on Equipment/machinery

2. Effective people management of support staff
• Set priorities and objectives for staff on a weekly basis
• Train staff and monitor performance and progress
• Establish and maintain healthy working relationships
• Continually assess the quality and level of workmanship performed by staff
• Take corrective action to improve competence where necessary
